Beyoncé, Jay Z, Jennifer Hudson & Will Ferrell Make the Longlist for Best Original Song Oscar

On Monday (Dec, 16), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the longlist of nominees for this year’s award for Best Original Song and it’s filled with its fair share of big named pop stars and one comedian.

The 75 songs vying for a nomination include Ed Sheeran‘s ”I See Fire” from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Karen O for “The Moon Song” from Spike Jonze’s Her and Jay Z’s ”100$ Bill” from The Great Gatsby. The xxFlorence and the MachineFergieQ-Tip and Lana Del Rey also made the list for their contribution to the Jay Z-produced soundtrack.

Though Beyoncé didn’t earn a nod for her song from The Great Gatsby – it wasn’t eligible since it was a cover of Amy Winehouse’s ”Back to Black” — she did manage to earn a spot on the list for the song “Rise Up” from the animated movie Epic.

Other artists who made the list include M83 for the Tom Cruise sci-fi flick OblivionJennifer Hudson for both Black Nativity and Winnie Mandela, Pharrell for Despicable Me 2, Alicia Keys for The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete and Colbie Caillat for her duet with Gavin DeGraw from the Nicholas Sparks movie, Safe Haven.
